I am a fully trained and insured counsellor and Gestalt therapist. I completed my Gestalt psychotherapy training at Edinburgh Gestalt Institute in 2017 and my full professional accreditation in 2022. I am a member of GPTI and abide by the GPTI Code of Ethics. I am a registered and accredited member of UKCP.
I have ten years clinical experience, working with clients presenting with a wide range of issues. Since 2018 I have been employed by the Student Counselling Service at the University of Edinburgh, and have a wealth of experience working with young adults. I have worked with women's organisations in particular, offering counselling for fertility issues, pregnancy loss and a variety of antenatal and post-partum mental health concerns. More recently I have worked for several years within the Rape Crisis Network, supporting survivors of sexual violence to understand and heal from the impact of trauma.
My professional background is in peacebuilding and human rights. Prior to training in Gestalt, I spent several years working with conflict affected communities in different parts of the world. It was through this that I developed my interest in how we move towards deeper healing, both for ourselves as individuals and for the communities of which we are part. My commitment to contributing to mental and emotional wellbeing has evolved over time. Personally, I have always found much inspiration and joy in the natural world, and hope to incorporate this further into my approach to therapy, calling my work Healing Horizons.
