I have been working as a counsellor and Gestalt therapist since 2015. I am registered and accredited with UKCP as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. As well as my Gestalt psychotherapy training, I am committed to ongoing training and development. I am a member of GPTI and abide by the GPTI Code of Ethics.
I have ten years clinical experience, working with clients presenting with a wide range of issues. Since 2018 I have been employed by the Student Counselling Service at the University of Edinburgh, and have a wealth of experience working with young adults. I have worked for different charities and women's organisations, including a specialist perinatal counselling service, offering support with a range of antenatal and post-partum mental health concerns. I continue to work as part of the Rape Crisis Network in Scotland, supporting survivors of sexual violence to understand and heal from the impact of trauma.
Prior to training as a therapist, my professional background was in peacebuilding and human rights. I spent several years working with conflict affected communities in different parts of the world. It was through this that I developed my interest in how we move towards deeper healing, both for ourselves as individuals and for the communities of which we are part. My commitment to contributing to mental and emotional wellbeing has evolved over time. Personally, I have always found much inspiration and joy in the natural world, and hope to incorporate this further into my approach to therapy, calling my work Healing Horizons.
